Students were given a poem by Mr. Sanchez about men crying and students
were asked to choose a line to write about for their 7 minute poem.
Sometimes when men get jealous they don't tell you. They keep it inside and
let the pain hide. When men go to jail they think they're hard core and don't
think about it. But when they actually there they really put some thought about
it. I never seen a man cry when their first child is born. They look happy and
full of emotions but crying . . . No . . . Never.

When men cry they don't like to be seen. They think it means they are weak but
it really means their emotions are strong. When men cry they try to hide or at
least try to hide that they want to hide behind something more masculine like
anger

Fathers often break down at their daughter's graduation . . . when my uncle died
I saw my father crying and that made me realize how hurt he was and the crying
that he couldn't hide.

Men cry at the birth of the first born a daughter. They cry when she
is taken away and may die. Men cry when that child's life hangs in
the balance. Men cry when that daughter grows up, each day having been a
challenge. Men cry when that baby girl so small and fragile grows into a
woman strong and beautiful.
I've seen you cry papa when you look at me. You see memories and dreams.
You've also seen the future. Papa, and still you're letting
me go. I cried when I was born and so did you. Men cry when they feel helpless.
I've seen my papa cry when he realizes I am no longer his baby girl.

Real men, when they pray . . . I think this line is very true because
these days the only time men want to acknowledge a God and pray is when
there in trouble. They can't ever find a job and they have a family
they pray. They are dying of cancer in the hospital and they pray weeping
for more life. They pray when there daughter is missing for weeks and they
want her back

Men really cry when they find the woman they love . . . is another man.
. . A lot of men thing that crying is a form of weakness they do not want
to express. I think this is dumb because instead of crying a lot of men
will do something with force like kill or break something. They will use
their physical strength instead of crying. In this case a man who found
someone to love discovers that either she is a man or he is gay or bisexual
and it scares him

Men have this thing that they can't or won't show emotion.
But really deep down inside of them they have to let it out sooner or later.
That will happen when they loose someone close to them or there love is
the same sex as them. See and that how it shouldn't be. They should
express it. Another reason why they don't show it is because they
think it might make them look like a baby or weak. They say crying is for
girls. No it isn't everyone cries. When women or girls cry it is showing
that we are the STRONG ONES and men are WEAK!

Fathers often bread down at their daughter's graduation. . . This
line means something to me because I won't have a father to break
down at my graduation. My father doesn't deserve to see me graduate.
He had hand in nursing me and the person I am now. Its like being rewarded
something you didn't do. I don't have a lot of experiences with
men crying because isn't important to me. I have seen my father cry
for the first time I was 12 and it had been 6 years since I had seen him
and he cried.

Men who have never know their daddy . . . me. Men beaten abused by their
fathers, I've seen them cry eve if the father was bad. They cry when
they die having tears in your eyes in not something wrong because we will
reunite before to long. I've seen men cry when facing the Viet Cong.
Al the emotions run as deep as the ocean. Tempers exposed when someone steps
on our toes. That how it goes a person get mad and you gear a gun explode.
Then the only sound is tears.

Crying . . . I barely ever see man cry. I have never even seen my dad
cry but I have seen a man cry over a girl once. Man that I'm ground
might cry but they don't cry around me.

Their tears are hidden on the inside . . . pride getting in the way,
sometimes I wish they would show more emotion. Too afraid of what people
will think. Men are stubborn! Shutting the cries they say they love out.
I've only seen a few men cry.

Are cactus . . . My father is very much like this line. He has never
truly cried. He has often times gotten watery eyed but never sobbed. I think
this is not good because he is withholding his emotions. This is not a good
quality because he will be a "ticking time bomb"

When their best friend dies . . I didn't care for him, I didn't
know him so why should I care I say his pain for his dead friend so I tried
to make thing happy But once my best friend died and I saw his cold stiff
face I could help but shed a tear for him, he was only 16 and he had to
leave. Carrying his casket wasn't sad. I was proud to be able to carry
my boy to his burial ground knowing that he's looking sown happy that
his best friend was carrying him know with that I'll always have his
back

Real men when they pray, I've seen them cry . . . When men pray
they cry for the sins they have committed man do cry. Men have feelings
like anyone else but will often don't show it your rarely see a man
or male figure in your life cry and when you do it's shocking. When
you see man cry for something simple you tell them to suck it up.
